I was in and out of hospital for
so many times for this pregnancy. The last time I was warded was due to
bleeding but not because of Placenta Previa. That time my gynae saw a blood
clot in my womb pulak and according to her that was the cause of the bleeding. Luckily,
the blood clot tak ganggu my baby. Boring betul bila asyik kene stay in the
hospital. Kesian Nazhan, a few times momma tak sempat nak look after Nazhan.
I was then tested again by Allah
SWT.
At 27 weeks, I had premature
contractions. I still remember the week which I strongly felt ‘something is
wrong with my body, kene gi checkup nih’ which came to my mind after a few
incidents, (1) I was shopping with my family, and when I stand and walk je,
rasa mengeras je perut nih. So I had to sit down. Bangun and walk again, rasa
lagi..(2) Whenever my hubby drove at bumpy and jammed area, perut rasa mengeras
jugak..Pelik jugak, why so kerap? I felt anxious and decided to go for checkup.
At APSH, my gynae kata mmg ade
contraction and it was already opening at 1cm, cervix had shortened, less than
2.7cm (normal cervix length is 3.2cm). Terus, the nurse wheeled me to the labor
room. They then gave me injection to stop the contraction and dexa injection to
mature the baby’s lung. The contraction mellowed down after 24 hours and I was then warded in a normal ward.
In the ward, I did a few research,
through internet and consultation with a nurse who had experienced premature
contractions. I was advised to go to Gov Hospital since the equipment for
premature baby is more advanced and the nurses and paed are more experienced
and skilful.
After a week at APSH, I could
still feel the contraction plus there was also blood mucus discharge. I made up
my mind to get transferred to any Gov Hospital which has private wing/ section.
I did not mind if I was to get treatment from a gynae which I have not experienced with. I sacrificied for my baby. The hunting for the ventilator began. I
was notified by my gynae that, if the ventilator was available in Perak or
Johor je, I might be transferred there jugak since I still insist to get
treatment at Gov Hosp.
Finally, berkat doa families and
frens, my gynae manage to locate me to a paed and gynae at UKMSC (that was the
only ventilator available in the whole Semenanjung at that time). Syukur tak
terhingga dgn rezeki yang Allah SWT kurniakan. The location is not so far from my house.
I was then sent to UKMSC by
ambulance. When I reached PPUKM emergency, the doctor did a pre-checkup. It was
a young Chinese doctor. There were also a few medical students surrounded me
when the doctor wanted to examine me. I informed them that I was not
comfortable with so many people in the room. They respected my decision and
waited outside.
To my astonishment, the doctor
informed me that the opening was already 2cm and she could already feel my
baby’s head. Imagine, within one week, at 28 weeks, all these could happen. L I was so down. I was
then, wheeled to the HDU, a critical unit at the PPUKM. I was then again given injection to stop the
contractions and dexa to mature my baby’s lung. I was constantly monitored by a
few specialised nurses. I felt like in labor at that time, holding tightly the
bed.
That night, I could sleep a bit
well since the contraction slowly started going off. The medication and
injection worked well. I was not allowed to go to the toilet and sit for too
long (more than 10-15 minutes). Just lying down on the bed. After 2 days being
monitored at the HDU, I was then transferred to the daily ward.
I will share more stories after this. Stay tuned for the next chapter.
Note: Some people including me
think that private hospitals are better than the government hospitals. I was
wrong, they are at par and even much2 better than the private hospitals
nowadays. Please take note that I am only referring to those government
hospitals which have private wing/ section. I have not experienced government hospitals
without private section. J
